WHO ARE THE FRIENDS OF WOODSEATS SCHOOL?
Friends of Woodseats School held our first meeting on 30th April 2009. We are a group of parents, staff, governors, grand-parents and carers, who have got together to try and do things to enhance the life of the school.
Everyone who wants to help is a member of the 'Friends of Woodseats School'!
WHAT DOES THE FRIENDS GROUP DO?
We’ve set up a friends group because we think it will help the school, and our children, in a number of ways:
- by providing a pool of practical hands-on support for the school
- by fundraising for equipment and resources that the school budget is not able to fully support
- by organising events and activities to enhance the school-life of our children
- by helping parents and carers to become more involved with school life, giving everyone a sense of having a part to play in making the school a success
WHAT WILL FUNDS RAISED BE USED FOR?
For playground equipment or maybe funding extra activities for the children - there are lots of 'extra' things that we could provide for the school. If you have any ideas about how any funds raised should be spent please come along to one of our meetings.
We are also asking the staff and children of the school to come up with a ‘wish-list’, and this will be used to help the group to choose our fundraising targets.
HOW CAN YOU HELP?
If you’ve got fundraising ideas, can help with publicity, can help organise events, or if you have any practical skills to offer please come along to our next meeting, or leave your name and contact details at the school office and someone from the Friends group will get in touch.
You don’t even have to give very much of your time, or make a regular commitment – we are grateful for any offers of help.
EVENTS & REQUESTS FOR HELP
Plant Amnesty!
Do you have green-fingers and more plants than you know what to do with?
- do you have a forlorn fatsia or unhappy hosta in need of a new home?
- perhaps you work in a shop that sells plants, and has surplus or struggling plants to dispose of?
If so, please consider donating plants to the school, so that the Friends group can use them to brighten up our outdoor areas. There are a few restrictions on the sort of plants that are allowed in the school, (no thorns, sharp leaves, berries or anything poisonous please!) but that still leaves loads of lovely greenery to play with! Please call in at the school office or call the school on 0114 255 4619.
Old Uniforms
Do you have any no longer needed school uniform items sitting in a bag or at the back of a cupboard? If you donate them to the school the Friends group will sell them to raise funds. We hope to start regular sales at the end of each half-term. Please bring unwanted items to the school office.
Lost Property
Is there someone out there who would be willing to help sort out the lost property in the school? We could raise funds by selling off unclaimed lost property, but it does need regular sorting out! Please ask at the office for more details.
